The Mortal Instrument Series by Cassandra Clare is a compelling book series about shadowhunters (they are descendants of angels) They hunt and kill demons that threaten all human beings. Clary the main character is a teenager girl who grows up as a human by her mom Jocelyn (who really is a shadowhunter). Clary believes her father is dead but he is actually a shadowhunter named Valentines who isn't the nicest man you'll ever meet. The other books go on what follows her life after finding out she's a shadowhunter. There are twists and turns, and reading them will make you not want to stop.
